Class: Punch Needle Rug Hooking Class: Yo-Yos for all Seasons Class: Whole Cloth Painting: Feathered Friend

Come celebrate the splendor of the upcoming fall season in Lancaster County by learning punch needle rug hooking! We’ll make Falling Leaves—a beautiful 5” x 8” piece that can be used as a trivet, tabletop decoration, or wall hanging. By doing this you’ll learn everything necessary to hook larger rugs. It’s a great pattern to start with and teaches how to punch straight lines, curves, points, details, borders and backgrounds, and how to use both solid-color and variegated yarns.

This is a fun four seasons wall quilt where you can choose to put them all together or use each season as a center medallion. The class will focus on the Autumn Theme, but all seasons will be in your kit. Increase your appliqué skills along with lessons in yo-yo making. Hand-dyed fabrics truly help to bring the design alive. Clover Yo-Yo Templates included.

Want to become part of the weaving craze? This 5 hour class will get you in the know. The portable loom is a simple to use but also has the potential for experimentation for a lifetime of weaving.

The loom will be set up so you can dive right into the fun of creating fabric with the cotton yarns provided. We will discuss the parts of the loom and how to choose yarn for future projects. I will warp a loom during the class time so you can see how it is done.

At the end of this class, you will have a finished placemat and the knowledge to weave independently at home.

Create your own PA German Style Fraktur with grain painted frame. In this class you will learn how to use pen and ink with color to create a traditional fraktur (illuminated manuscript) design. You will also learn how to grain paint a frame to complete your ready to hang project.

PA Germans made colorful decorative documents- known as “ fraktur” to serve as records to record important life events during the 1700’s and 1800’s. Fraktur is also the name of the specific style of calligraphic lettering used on these documents. Participants will choose from a choice of designs for their completed project which may include words in fraktur script  if desired.

Learn the art of fancy painting or grain painting using present day acrylic glazes on an 5x7 frame to replicate the look used by 18th century folk artists. We will prep our piece and then experiment with a variety of graining tools on practice boards to work out our designs. The end result will be a frame appropriate for the fraktur you have painted.
