Brioche is one of those “advance techniques” that all knitters want to try, but many never do. The fabric is rich with texture and results in an extremely squishable material. At its most basic, brioche is a ribbed stitch that results in a dense reversible fabric. Students will learn the basics of brioche and how to read brioche charts.

Learn to press and cut 3,4 or 5 sided piece of fabric for centering block, then using flip and sew method sew other pieces to complete 10-12” block. You will work with a variety of fabric types and including discussion about how to incorporate vintage or special fabrics, such as ties, lace and other fabrics.


You will learn various basic embroidery techniques including silk ribbon and bead embroidery and how to use a variety of embroidery flosses and pearle cottons, metallic and specialty threads, buttons charms and other details. Use these techniques to embellish your crazy quilt blocks from Crazy Quilting 1 or as an introduction to a wide range of embroidery techniques and materials.

You will create you own fabric through the combination of fabric strips that are fused together with interfacing and then hand stitched. You will be able to make a clutch purse with the fabric that you create in this class.

By cutting fabric into small shapes, then joining them together in new combinations you can create a new fabric that can be used in a variety of fiber projects. You will then embellish your fabrics with embroidery stitches, charms and other materials to create fun magnets or pins.


Learn to make crochet cables of various shapes and styles. You will learn to make cables with hdc backing, sc backing and a post st backing. Once you have completed this class you will be able to conquer following or writing most patterns with most cables!

You know the basics of Tunisian Crochet – now what? Take your Tunisian to the next level by learning about more intricate lace stitches, and how to read both Tunisian symbol charts and patterns.

Join me as we explore the basics of the Tunisian technique, including Tunisian Simple Stitch, Tunisian Knit and Purl, increasing, decreasing, and full row colorwork.

Think you know everything there is to know about grannies? How about making them in triangle, rectangle, or other polygnal shapes! Learn the basics of creating shaped motifs, then all the tips and tricks you’ll need to create your own center-out motifs in any shape.

Entrelac looks like woven strips of material, but really each square is knit individually. Learn how to make this magical fabric using just basic knitting skills. Don’t let colorwork scare you – there are many different types of stitches you can crochet while working with only one color of yarn at a time, and without leaving any ugly floats. In this class you will learn several colorful stitches, including those utilizing post stitch  hes, surface chains, and reversible patterns.

Mono printing is a printmaking technique that produces a single, unique print. In this workshop, you will be introduced to mono printing using a durable, reusable gel printing plate by Gelli Arts. The gel printing method does not use a printing press. We'll begin by covering the basics of mono printing, which includes the additive, subtractive and combined methods of printing. After that, we'll leap into learning several techniques for creating one-of-a-kind, multilayered prints using recycled materials. What can you do with the prints? To name just a few ideas, use them in handmade greeting cards, scrapbooking, collage, art journals, art quilts, fabric paper, mixed media projects or book making. You will be provided with supplies to make a quick and easy project during class (if time allows) using one of your prints.M

On the flip side, techniques done with fabric, such as machine and hand stitching, work great on paper. In this workshop, you will first create a blank art journal with fabric and paper pages. From there, you will be presented with some tips for overcoming the fear and paralysis that results when faced with a blank canvas. It happens to everyone! Then we'll leap into creative play by exploring a variety of techniques for creating deliciously textured and layered art journal pages using recycled materials and assorted collage ephemera.

This mini book is chockfull of surprises centered around origami paper folding. Each book page is a folded origami picture frame. The frames are connected and folded accordion style to create this unique book. The book you create in this workshop will contain inspiring quotes and fun, interactive elements revealing surprise messages. Complete folding instructions are provided. The creative possibilities for this book are many, such as a mini photo album or a sentiment to celebrate a special occasion.

A mixed media art canvas is created when multiple mediums are used. This workshop begins with a blank canvas, and all too often, the blank canvas can be intimidating and sometimes paralyzing. Such feelings can trigger those noisy gremlins inside your head that might be whispering “you can't.” Working with these small canvases helps reduce those feelings and whispering gremlins, particularly if you've never created a mixed media art canvas. You will be presented with some inspiring tips and tricks to help overcome the fear of a blank canvas and silencing the gremlins allowing you to show the canvas who's boss! These tips will ease you into the joy (not fear!) of creating three (3) 4” mixed media art canvases using recycled materials and assorted collage ephemera. You will learn a variety of techniques for creating deliciously textured and layered backgrounds as a foundation for a focal image and meaningful quote.

Create a small weaving with a variety of threads, ribbons and braids on a background fabric.  With the addition of embellishments such as feathers, charms or buttons, you will create a beautiful weaving that you can mount of frame for display.

Learn to make triangles from top down, bottom up, center out and point to side. Once you learn these basics you can make shawls and more with many stitch patterns.

Learn to join vertical panels of knitting as you go: no more making them all at once with multiple strands of yarn used at once. This technique also creates a textured rib where the join is located.

This centerpiece will take center stage on any table top and provides a safe spot for a candle or vase. Carol will show you how Needle Felting pieces in place are easy, fun and fast. It’s all about the embroidery and you will learn about floss and stitches for enhancing the design. Kit is pre-cut and floss is included.
